It seems clear to me and not to any notable media personalities that we need to take a step back in the debate over the wishes of superstitious, religious Dark Age-folk to present evolution as a theory whose supporting evidence should be closely examined because, I guess, it sounds too convincing at first glance.
That step is to ask what evidence there is for anything espoused by evolution’s opponents. Prove your religion. Prove Jesus existed. Prove Jesus was the son of a god. Prove there is one god. Prove that one god is Christian.
It is as if religious people get a free ride. Why don’t they have to prove anything? Why don’t they have to pay taxes on their institution’s income? Until they prove a deity wants them to get this exceptional treatment I don’t see any reason to provide them with it.
