Okay, here’s the deal.
Why is it that pictures of a particular crime are illegal to possess and pictures of any other kind of crime are *legal* to possess? I said “possess”, not “purchase”.
Why is it legal to have on your computer a video of Nicolas Berg (sp?) being decapitated but it is illegal to have a photograph of a naked 10 year-old girl? (That assumes that photographing a 10 year-old girl is criminal.) In fact, some legislation is worded so that it merely has to be a portrayal of a 10 year-old girl, not an actual picture of an actual girl. For example, a 3-D digital picture of a juvenile can get you arrested for possession of child pornography.
I contend that it doesn’t make sense and is a product of our societal aversion to sex in all of its forms. Somehow, violence is acceptable but sex is not. I think that’s the real perversion, that this society find violence so acceptable.
