“Simply stated, there is no doubt that Saddam Hussein now has weapons of mass destruction. There is no doubt he is amassing them to use against our friends, against our allies, and against us.”
Vice President Dick Cheney

I love this kind of reference! They take damning quotes politicans have made, sometimes juxtapose them with contradictory quotes by the same politician, and link all of the attributions to a source. There should be more of these. I heard about a book someone wrote where some guy catalogued the predictions made by some of the most popular pundits in the country over a ten year period and meticulously researched the accuracy of their punditry. The result? Pundits have a great vocabulary, good education and don’t know a fucking thing. Sometimes they get it right, sometimes they get it wrong. The worst thing is when they don’t care that they got it wrong — for example making a foreign war seem like a good idea — and simply rationalize their earlier mistake. There are no consequences for these idiots. You people who watch them need to get a life. Seriously, I don’t even know why Tim Russert goes to work. He seems to understand that bullshit engulfs his world but he somehow tolerates it. It’s what I think it takes to tolerate such huge amounts of bullshit that makes me question his wisdom. I think he made a sacrifice at some point. In order to cover something indefinitely you have to meet it on its terms. I don’t trust people who can meet politics on its terms.
