Just an amazing film. 🙂 Quentin Tarantino takes a beautiful, mesmerizing snapshot of Hollywood in its heyday, which it can be now also, if we were to want it to be so!!!
Thank God Tarantino doesn’t give any time to the people who would otherwise insist on the tedious political correctness that we all enjoy confronting on a daily basis. 🙂 This gives him the freedom to teach us humans a lesson in learning how to discern reality, fact from fiction, in a very special way. The behind-the-scenes aspects of this film are so excellently shot and devised. . . . Just seamless. The editors did a wonderful job with this film. It must have been fun going through all of the footage they must have gone through to flood the screen constantly with such vibrant images of ye olde Hollywood.
So, cheers to this movie! I’m enjoying watching it again. I will probably watch it again next week.

This really sets the stage for what we are going through right now. Hunter was exactly right about Nixon and all its administration portended for this miserable country. We are now reaping what we sowed back then. This is the price we pay for failing to elect George McGovern. This is the price we pay for not electing Henry A. Wallace. This is the price we pay for not electing Bernie Sanders. This is the price we pay for not electing George Mason. This is the price we will continue to pay until we learn our goddamn lesson. So fucking educate yourself, people. Smarten the fuck up. It’s your responsibility as a citizen of this country. If you decide it isn’t then maybe you should shoot yourself in the head or just leave some other, more graceful way. But you are standing in the way of progress. STFU and GTFO.
I think this is an allegory for our time. I’m mystified as to how the director and writer and whomever else pulled this off. It’s remarkable that something so complex could be manufactured in the midst of this ignorant state. This is art.

When I have time, maybe after I get the raccoons out of my HVAC system, I might explain why I think this movie is so poignant. In brief, it has a lot to do with paternalism, the All Father (or whatever), the hubris of white-male-capitalist-America, the searching for salvation from a savior instead of using reason and human intelligence to solve problems and create a better world.
I just picked up on “Here in the Black”, through my playlist shuffling and didn’t realize I had missed this album of his.
