Beatriz at Dinner review – Salma Hayek takes on white privilege in savage drama | Film | The Guardian

A standout turn from the often under-utilized actor is one of the many joys of this carefully choreographed dinner party satire that acts as a cutting allegory of Trump’s America

I could not have put this any better myself I’m sure.  So I’ll just post this as is.  🙂  I highly endorse the use of the word “savage” in the lede.

I hope you watch the movie and enjoy it!

I watched this movie at a time in my life when I could probably most feel it.  I think it deserves to be linked with Movie Recommendation: The New Age in that context.

Have we forgotten the true meaning of Labor Day?

The holiday began as a strike against excessive workweeks but now bears little resemblance to its worker-centric origins, even as the founders’ gains are slowly lost.

US Complicity in the Death and Maiming of Many Yemeni School Children

We are killing the world, Citizens. We, our country, our corporations, our Wall Street, our holy capitalism. . . .

We certainly have no right to be free from the natural, predictable consequences of our actions, be they a cruel, inhumane economy, destruction of physical property, loss of life — certainly nothing we haven’t already inflicted upon the world many times in many ways with virtual impunity. Consequences are inevitable, as is justice. Eventually, and it may be after humans are long gone, all of this will go away, this pollution, this ruin, this disharmony, this ecological devastation. The tragedy is that we have had the power to make it go away all of our lives. All we have to do is choose a different path. We all have choices. We all choose our own path. We all decide what happens.

Wake up. Stand up. Do what’s right no matter what.

Capitalism is the cause

Calls to reign in the excesses of capitalism; to better enforce laws; to increase oversight; to improve regulation. . . . This is a never-ending mostly centrist crusade to blunt the effects of a brutal and inhumane system that is functioning exactly as intended. The foundations of our system need to change profoundly and along with it what we call capitalism needs to be burned in the crucible of history. If such things as capitalism and industrialism were ever actually necessary in human progress they certainly are no longer and should be banished to the ages before we destroy ourselves, eyes wide open.

Another more timely strike against Mississippi

Feels like it! 😐 One more reason to GTFO.

And “Governor” Phil Bryant is a buffoon. Denial & ignorance (best case) and actively looting your historically suppressed constituency (worst case) are both very grave errors/crimes/sins/mistakes/acts/choices in an actual democracy. I’m hoping for massive amounts of cosmic justice, whether I’m privileged enough to witness it or not. 🙂🕊️♥️🕉️☸️🌍🌌🐢🦄
