The extreme arrogance and hubris that is continuously radiated by characters such as these is due to this: they now realize that they allowed throughout their lifetime the circumstances to exist that brought us to this moment; that they failed in their own eyes to prevent the problems that are before us now; but instead of simply stepping aside, acknowledging the truth, and getting out of the way, leaving it clear for others to do the necessary work, they entrench themselves, embittered, and seek to pretend that the problems couldn’t have been prevented, or that they are not as bad as they seem, or that they are beyond the ability of others to solve, or that they are unsolvable by anyone, or, lastly, that they don’t even exist.
There’s something wrong when you are unable to get something good to eat after 10:00 p.m. but can drink fucking poisonous, carcinogenic, mind-numbing alcohol until 2:00 or 4:00 a.m.
Shouldn’t you have to be a college graduate to be allowed to protest on a college campus? Hallelujah, right?! (I presume these people are not college graduates because the way that is written they never should have graduated.)
